Most people who begin exploring energy work are introduced to the Seven major chakras: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown.

These seven centres offer a powerful map for understanding the movement of energy through the human experience—from survival and embodiment to expression, intuition and spiritual awareness.

But what if the journey does not end at the Crown?

And what if, before we can truly rise into higher states of Consciousness, we must first learn to descend deeply into the Earth?

Within certain mystical and Energy-healing traditions, the chakra system is understood as far more extensive than the seven major chakras. Beyond the familiar centres are minor and micro energy centres throughout the body, as well as energetic centres beneath the feet and above the Crown.

These hidden layers form a bridge between Earth, Body, Soul and the Divine.

They invite us to understand spiritual awakening differently.

Because awakening is not simply about opening the Crown, seeing beyond the physical world or experiencing extraordinary phenomena.

To Ascend, you must Descend.
The Deeper You Go, the Higher You Rise.

The Seven Chakras Are Just the Beginning

The traditional yogic and tantric systems contain different maps and descriptions of the subtle body. In some modern energy-healing frameworks, this is expressed through a model of 114 chakras, with seven considered the major physical centres and numerous minor and micro chakras distributed throughout the body.

Every joint, every transition point, every organ and many areas of the physical body form part of a vast energetic network.

We often focus on the Root Chakra because it is associated with grounding, safety, stability and embodiment.

But the Root is not necessarily the end of the grounding journey.

There are three deeper energetic centres beneath the feet—centres associated with Earth, ancestry and our relationship with the living consciousness of Gaia.

These centres together form what I call the Root structure.

Before reaching toward the heavens, we must learn how to stand fully upon the Earth.

Before opening ourselves to higher frequencies, we must learn how to hold the energy within our bodies.

Before we seek the Divine above, we must remember the Earth below.

The Three Chakras Beneath the Feet

1. Earth Star Chakra – Your Super Root

This energetic centre is located approximately six inches beneath your feet, known as the Earth Star Chakra—a deeper root beneath the Root.

While the Root Chakra is associated with our physical and emotional foundations, the Earth Star is an energetic anchor connecting our subtle field more deeply with the Earth.

It is the point where your energy sinks into the Earth rather than getting lost in the Ether or rising upwards.

The Earth Star is associated with:

  • Grounding
  • Stability
  • Presence
  • Resilience
  • Embodiment
  • Connection with the Earth
  • A deeper sense of belonging

The minor chakras throughout the feet and legs can be viewed as part of this grounding network.

When this foundation is neglected, spiritual practice can sometimes become heavily focused on the upper chakras—visions, intuition, meditation, astral experiences and altered states—while the body itself struggles to integrate what is being experienced.

Grounding therefore becomes more than simply “feeling calm.”

It becomes the ability to hold what you receive.

To remain present while your consciousness expands.

To be able to touch the mystical without abandoning the physical.

2. Karmic Chakra — Your Ancestral Connection

Deeper still lies within this energetic framework is the Karmic Chakra.

This centre is the amalgamation of your personal soul journey and the energetic inheritance of those who came before you.

  • Your lineage carries stories.
  • It carries patterns.
  • It carries wounds.
  • But it also carries gifts.
  • Strength
  • Wisdom
  • Resilience
  • Creativity
  • Intuition
  • Love

The Karmic Chakra is associated with ancestral patterns, karmic residue, past-life memories and the lessons that the soul has chosen to navigate.

Whether one understands these concepts literally, symbolically or spiritually, the underlying invitation is worth pondering.

What are you carrying that did not begin with you?

Sometimes we inherit ways of relating, fearing, loving, surviving and protecting ourselves.

We may unconsciously repeat patterns that have travelled through generations.

The work of clearing this energetic layer is therefore not about rejecting our ancestry.

It is about separating the patterns from the gifts.

To release what no longer serves.

To honour what does.

And ultimately to embody the wisdom encoded within our lineage without being imprisoned by its unresolved patterns.

The goal is not to sever ourselves from our ancestors.

It is to become conscious of what we carry.

3. Heart of Gaia — The Heart of Mother Earth

Beyond our Ancestral connection, lies a bigger truth – our connection with Mother Earth.

This centre represents a deep relationship with the living Earth—not merely as a physical planet beneath our feet, but as a source of nourishment, support and renewal. It is the connection that brings home the conscious awareness that it is all interconnected.

We are a part of Gaia as much as Gaia is a part of Us. In a world that constantly teaches us to strive, achieve, control and carry everything ourselves, the Heart of Gaia asks us to remember:

I am supported.
I belong here.
I am part of something greater than myself.

The Crown Is Not the Destination

The Crown Chakra is often presented as the ultimate gateway to spiritual awakening.

But an open Crown is not necessarily the completion of the journey.

It is only the beginning. – the beginning of an awareness that there is a reality larger than what our five physical senses reveal.

We may experience intuition.

  • Synchronicities.
  • Subtle energies.
  • Visions.
  • Dreams.
  • Unexpected moments of connection.

The unseen begins to become visible to our awareness.

But there is a catch here:

When you begin to perceive the unseen, the unseen begins to perceive you.

And this is where Discernment becomes essential.

The mystical can be extraordinarily beautiful. It can feel magical.

It can bring synchronicities, unusual experiences and moments that seem impossible to explain.

But spiritual awakening is not about collecting experiences.

It is about becoming capable of holding them wisely.

So How Do You Ascend?

Perhaps the real question is not:

“How high can I go?”

Perhaps it is:

“How deeply can I embody?”

The journey can be understood through four movements:

ANCHOR.
DISCERN.
EMBODY.
ALIGN.

These are not necessarily four rigid steps. They are movements that continually deepen as consciousness expands.

1. Anchor

Before reaching into higher realms, establish your foundation.

Your Root structure needs to be cleansed, activated and energised.

Not only the Root Chakra, but the minor chakras throughout the lower body and the three energetic centres beneath the feet.

Grounding allows expanded awareness to have somewhere to land.

It teaches the body:

You are safe enough to be here.

2. Discern & Embody

Once grounded, the next movement is into the Sacral–Heart–Throat connection, also known as the Sacred Bridge.

The Sacral is associated with the seat of the soul and the movement of life-force and creative energy.

The Heart allows us to connect, receive and experience love.

The Throat is the centre of our expression—the place where the inner truth seeks embodiment through our voice and actions.

When these centres become connected, a deeper alignment emerges:

The Soul guides what the Heart receives,
And the Throat embodies as Inner Truth.

Discernment and Embodiment arrives with this connection, bringing the awareness that

Not every sensation is guidance.

Not every vision is truth.

Not every synchronicity requires action.

Spiritual maturity means learning to distinguish between intuition, desire, fear, projection and genuine inner knowing.

3. Align

Only after grounding, discernment and embodiment do we begin to explore the higher energetic centres above the Crown.

The Soul Star.
The Galactic Chakra.
The Divine Gateway.

These can be understood as symbolic or energetic gateways into progressively subtler dimensions of consciousness.

The Soul Star Chakra — Your Higher Self

The Soul Star Chakra is approximately three to six inches above the head, outside the physical body.

It is associated with the connection between your Energy Body and your Higher Self.

Where the lower centres teach embodiment, the Soul Star invites remembrance.

A remembrance of who you are beyond your immediate identity.

Beyond your roles.

Beyond your fears.

Beyond the stories you have accumulated throughout lifetimes.

It is the movement from:

“Who do I think I am?”

toward:

“Who am I beneath everything I have been conditioned to be?”

The Galactic Chakra — The Higher Astral Realm

The Galactic Chakra, is approximately six to twelve inches above the head, and represents another level of subtle awareness.

It is associated with the Higher Astral Realms—the realms of Angels, Archangels and Star Beings.

And the realm of extraordinary mystical experiences.

For healers, mediums and psychics, these experiences can often become deeply compelling.

And therein lies the challenge.

The mystical can become its own form of attachment.

We can become addicted to the experience of being amazed.

We can begin chasing signs instead of listening deeply.

We can mistake intensity for truth.

We can become so fascinated by the “bling” of the spiritual world that we forget the purpose of spirituality itself.

The goal is not to experience more.
The goal is to become the Experience.

The Divine Gateway Chakra —Realm of the Divine

Beyond the Higher Astral Realms, is the Divine Gateway Chakra, approximately twelve to eighteen inches above the head.

It is the doorway into the Divine Realms—the realms of Gods and Goddesses, Creator Beings, the Elohim and Divine Source.

And interestingly, the transition into this realm is often not dramatic

It feels just the opposite.

The visions may disappear.

The fireworks may fade.

The synchronicities may become quieter.

The instant insights may stop.

The mystical “spark” that once made spiritual practice feel extraordinary may seem to vanish.

And this is where trust begins.

Because the higher realms are not accessed through constant stimulation.

They are accessed through surrender.

Through deep devotion.

Through stillness.

Through the willingness to remain connected even when there is no immediate proof.

When Seeking Becomes Trust

There comes a point in the journey when you have to stop asking:

“Can I see them?”

and begin asking:

“Can I trust that I am held even when I cannot see?”

This is a very different kind of spirituality.

It does not depend upon visions.

It does not require miracles.

It does not need constant confirmation.

It asks you to surrender.

To soften.

To trust.

To become receptive.

When you trust without proof, when you surrender yourself fully, the Divine begins to feel very intimate.

The Gods and Goddesses are no longer distant beings somewhere above you.

The Divine becomes something you experience within you, around you and through you.

A Deep Feeling of Being:

Seen.

Nurtured.

Protected.

Supported.

Unconditionally loved.

Like returning to the safety of a mother’s womb—where there is nothing to control and nothing to prove.

Only the deep knowing:

Everything is going to be taken care of.
